STAFF REPORTS
THAMES HOSPITAL BOARD. Officers of the Thames Hospital Board reported to yesterday’s Board meeting on hospital matters as follows :— The acting medical superintendent, Dr. J. B. Liggins, reported that during November 37 inales and 41 females had been admitted, three deaths had occurred, 40 males and 45 females had been discharged, leaving 33 and 28. There had been 14 out-patients with 93 attendances, and 32 operations had been performed. The matron, Miss K. M. Ansenne, reported on staff matters regarding annual leave and replacements. Nine patients had been admitted to the maternity annexe, and five mothers and four babies remained at the end of the month. There had been 26 antenatal attendances. Miss F. E. Maslin, sister in charge of the Paeroa Hospital, stated that 11 patients had been admitted including nine maternity cases, 12 had been discharged and two remained. One operation had been performed.
The engineer, Mr J. Kennedy, reported that all urgent repairs had been effected to the plant. Coal consumption amounted to 48 tons 15 cwt. for the month. The report of the Tararu Homes superintendent stated that the inmates numbered 12 males, whose conduct had been good. The pastures were in good order and the feed was ”oming away well. Two paddocks had ’~een cut and stacked for ensilage. The District Nurse for Natives, Miss N. Jamieson, in her report, said that 24 pas had been visited. There had been a mild influenza' epidemic at Kerepeehi and Moananui. Lectures had been delivered on the treatment of influenza, chest troubles, personal cleanliness, special foods for young children and care ofteeth.
