NEW BUILDING
ENTERPRISE IN PAEROA BLOCK OF SHOPS ERECTED. The new Belmont Building, at the corner of Normanby Road and Macky Street, Paeroa, which was opened last week, is a handsome addition to the business premises of the town and provide visible evidence of its progress. The building, of which Mr E. H. Henderson is the owner, is of a quiet but striking architectural design and is a credit to the designer. The structure is of concrete and the frontage is finished with black tiles relieved with chromium plating. The verandah follows the modern trend, in that it is not supported by unsightly posts. The display windows with their chromium plated frames are very attractive features. The inside walls have been finished with white plaster, so that, with the big skylights, the shops are bright and have an air of spaciousness. The occupants are the Housewives Relief Stores, grocers, in the big shop at the northern end, F. C. Blyth, stationer, in the middle premises, and the Bank of Australia at the Macky Street corner. The grocery shop has a greater depth than the other two sections, and attached to it is a big store-room opening on to Macky Street. A sure sign that business is improving and that a town is progressing is the erection of new and more commodious business premises. In Paeroa there is now another shop nearing completion, and the premises vacated by the firms which moved into the Belmont Building have been snapped up, indicating that at the present rate of expansion, it will not be long before builders will. be engaged in providing further mercantile accommodation.
