CROQUET

The thanks of the members of the Paeroa Croquet Club to Mr W. Marshall for his donation of a set of hoops was expressed by Mr E. Edwards at last evening’s meeting of the Paeroa Domain Board.

The secretary of the Paeroa Croquet Club, Mrs E. Edwards, wrote to last evening’s meeting of the Paeroa Domain Board forwarding £l7 10s on account of the rental due. The balance would be forwarded as soon as possible. Complaint was made as to the state of the No. 2 lawn, on which the Board had done considerable work last season but which had been allowed to get into such bad shape this season as to be unplayable. A down pipe from a sink in the pavilion had become disconnected, allowing water to run on to the floor. The chairman, Mr W. Marshall stated that on account of the dry weather and the scarcity of water prior to Christmas the ground had cracked and much of the grass had died. It was now improving, but it would not be a good lawn this season. Everything possible was being done. The down pipe had been repaired.
