The conditions in a closed car which tends to become unduly warm in summer time can be improved if thin asbestos is fixed to the underside of the floor and footboards, and all holes in the boards —through which hot air may find its way—carefully stopped up. The asbestos should be fixed by means of laths laid along the edges f f the sheet all round and screwed into the board. The asbestos can then easily be removed in the winter, when the warmth is usually welcome.
