WINTER WINDS.
NECESSITATE SPECIAL SKIN TREATMENTS. It seems that we can’t have everything- the way we want it in the world. Along with the invigorating charms of winter sports comes the disadvantage of winds robbing- one’s skin of its moisture. Man-made heat which gives interiors a cheerful'warmth, likewise robs the skin by its artificial warmth. Again, with the need of concentrating the attention e on fatless food diets comes the necessity of overcoming lack of oils in the body. All in all, winter days mean concentrated attention on the complexion for while the outdoors lure one to great health and yitality, they also rob one of the necessary moisture needed for skin beauty. A few helpful hints in counter-act-ing the dryness of winter winds' are disclosed bv Esther Ralston, feminine lead of Lawrence Tibbett’s new talkie, “ The Prodigal.” Revealing a well thought-out schedule which consists of facial care twice daily, Miss Ralston’s formula includes:— (1) Morning exercise to tone up the system as a whole. (2) A thorough application of cold cream, worn as a mask during the exercising process. , (3) A cold tub shower to follow the exercises. (4) Removal of the cold cream with facial tissues after the shower-. (5) Use of a skin tonic which is patted on with a bit' of cotton. (6) Completion of the toilet with a powder base, rouge, powder, and lipstick, all of which are put on underdaylight. The evening ritual is' along the same lines. The cleansing cream is carefully rubbed into the creases of the nose, chin and neck in order that all dust and oil be removed. This is left on during taking of the evening bath.
