FOOTBALL.
SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY. RAILWAY TEAM VICTORIOUS. Fast football, more willing than ordinary club games, was witnessed on the Paeroa Domain on Wednesday . last, when a seven-a-side knock out tournament was held. The tourney was organised and run by the Paeroa Rugby Union, and at tracted six teams—East A and B, West A and B, Railway and High School Old Boys. The games consisted of two spells, each of ten minutes’ duration, which, with the ground the same size as usual, made play fast and very interesting, and provided excellent opportunities for the fast and elusive players. The tournament was a victory for the Railway team, which played three games, defeating East A. East B, and West B; The Games. . The first game was Railway v. East • A, the teams being:— Railway: Fulton, Minchin, Verran, Campbell, Lowe, Richards, and Kerr. East A: Moore, Neil, . Williams, Meader, Lawrence, Gibson, Clayton, This game went to Railway by six to nil, F. Campbell scoring two unconverted tries. - East B defeated West A by 15 points to nil, Pullar, Ganiev and Walls scoring unconverted tries for the winners. The teams were:— East R: Fisher, Pullar, McGlashan, Bramble, Ratcliffe, Ganley, Walls. West A: Carrick Laverick, Alp, Currie, Campbell, Harold, Pennell. West B v. Fisher, Power, Pearce, Saunders. Old Boys: Alp, Pivott, Silcock, Craig, Bourne, Henneh, Holwell. E. Fisher scored two unconverted tries for the winners, while for Old Boys Pivott scored for R. West B, was also a “walk over.” The Rail-; way backs, Verran and Minchin, were too fast and elusive for their slower opponents.’ Kerr played a solid game in the forwards. For West, Pearce was the outstanding back and W. Fisher the hardest working forward. For the winners, Minchin (2), and Verran (2) were the scorers, while Campbell converted one try. The final score was: Railway, 14; - West, 3, from a try scored by Duncan. Shields and Medals. It was rep'orted at the last meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union that Mr W.
