MANGAITI BRIDGE.

DANGEROUS SAG. CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC. During the Ohinemuri County Council meeting on Wednesday afternoon a telephone messags was received to the effect that the Mangaiti Bridge had been closed to all traffic by the Piako County Engineer (Mr Horner). It appeared, from' an inspection, that a scour in the bed of the river had caused a pile to sink and the bridge to sag. Much of the timber in the bridge was in bad order and the undue strain on the sound timber was such that Mr Horner had considered the bridge to be unsafe. The bridge is the joint liability of the Ohinemuri and the Piako County Councils.
