PROGRESS FOB THE MONTH.
STATEMENTS BEFORE MEETING,
At yesterday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board at Te Aroha the following information was contained in reports submitted :— MANAGER’S REPORT. “Conference : A meeting of power board supply authorities was held at Hamilton on June 10, and was presided over by the Minister of Public Works. The meeting wa in regard to the providing of supply of power until Arapuni operates. The board was represented by the chairman and engineer, who will detail the matters discussed at the meeting. “House at Morrinsville: The contractors for the troubleman’s house at Morrinsville are making satisfactory progress, and should complete same well within the contract time. “ Thamse and Te. Aroha Boroughs : There are letters before you this day from the boroughs, which are taking supply in bulk agreeing to. the amended charges, as decided by the board at its last meeting. “Consumers : The total number of consumers connected to the board’s mains on June 30. 1927, was. 6461, which includes the boroughs of Te Aroha and Thames, During the month 52 lighting a.nd heating consumers, 13 water-heaters, 11 electric ranges, and 5 motors on farms (2 being 2 th.p. milking motors) were connected. There are now connected and operating 1027 water-heaters and 161 electric rangers, and the total number of motors connected and running on farms is 1891, of which 1623 are 2 h.p. milking motors. - In addition to the above, 36 consumers had additional lights and heating points, etc., connected during the month. “Audit: The audit for the years 1925-26 and 1926-27 has-mow been finished by the Government auditor, MiMeek, and the balance-sheets should soon be ready for printing. I would like’ the necessary authority to get same printed. “Conference: The annual Power Board Conference will be held in Wellington on July 20. The remits to be discussed are with the correspondence for your'perusal.” ENGINEER’S REPORT.
The engineer’s report included the following:— “Kaihere-Patetonga : Pole erection on the Kaffiere-Mangawhero section has been completed, and that at Kaihere Township will shortly be finished. Wiring of the 11.000-volt low tension and high tension telephone lines has been completed from Smer.le’s mill to the Kaihere store, except a s mall section at the Waikauri stream. The Lands Department’s dredge is working at this point, and the Post and Telegraph Department’s line has to'be shifted. Power should be available at the end of this month up to -Kaihere, provided the P. and T. lines are clear by then. “Kere-peehi: The work necessary on the board’s lines in connection with supply from the temporary feed point at Kerepeehi has been completed. The work of the Public Works Department at this point has also been completed, but" ■,the switching arrangements at the Waikino end are not quite ready. It is. expected to have a test from Waikino to Bombay on Sunday, July 10, and 'Sower should be available immediately after this. “Waitawheta: Work was commenced on this section on May 24. Pole erection and I'l,ooo-volt and low tension wiring have now been completed, and two transformer stations erected. Supply should be- made available within a fortnight. “Await!: A short line has been constructed from the end of Awaiti West Road to give supply to the new pump for the Elstow Drainage Board. The pump should shortly bo in operation.”
