HUGE WHISKY PROFITS.
DISTILLER COMPANY’S REPORT.
The 'report covering the first complete year df the Distillers’ Company since amalgamation xvith the Buchan-an-Dewar-Walker interests, whereby the producing and distributing sides of the whisky business were brought into closer contact, shows, a profit of £2,098,441, aftei' providing £31,000' for the fuff year’s interest on the several debenture stocks. The, net profit for the previous year, including final dividends to £593,610, received from Buchanan-Dewar and Johnnie Walker was £1,768,697. With the balance of £116,552 brought forward, the amount available this year is £2,214,993. Out of this £200,000 is added to the. reserve fund, raising the latter to £650,000 ; the sum of £5OOO is* added to the fire insurance fund, making that fund £165,000 ; and the addition of £2'5,000 to the superannuation aixd proyident fund brings that fund up to £266,423. These deductions reduce the credit balance to £1,984,993. The dividend, on the preference shares is 6 per cent., and on the ordinary shares 20 pei' cent. The sum of £lOO,OOO is written off preliminary expenses, and a balance of £121,554 is carried forward; During the year further absorptions were effected by the purchase. of practically the whole df the preference and ordinary shares, of the Scottish Malt Distillers and by the acquisition of important, interests in the business of Herbert Green and Company, makers of industrial spirits, anti the distilleries of Macdonald, Greenlees, and Williams. The total issued capital of the combine is now £12,561,526. f» .
