STRUCK BY FALLING COAL While engage I in pillai Wo king in the Itotowaro mine on Wednesday morning, William Ball, married, employed as a miner, and residing at Huntly, was struck on the head by a large falling piece of coal. Shot firing operations were being carried out i i the next workings and as a re fsult of the shot the roof'was loosened in his workings and a large piece of c >al gave way and struck him on ths head, causing a severe laceration and bruises. Mr Bell was conveyed to the Waikato Hospital at Hamilton.
