Loyal Orange Lodge

Bro. R. P. Smith, Grand Lodge Officer of the Loyal Orange Grand Lodge of N.Z. performed a very interesting ceremony in the Masonic Hall mi Saturday, Ssptr. 4th., the occasion being the opening of the L. O. L. Daughters of the Boyne, No. 6-

There Were about 30 ladies and about 30 brethren present, Bro. Welham, D.M , of No 2. Lodge, City of Auckland, performing the duties of Master of ceremonies. The chairs were tilled prc-tem, by brother Wesley, Jnr., D.M. ; Sisters Mitchell and Husband, D’s. Sister Smith assisted by Bro. A. Hooker, Chaplain; Bro. F. Tregoweth, F.C.; Bro. Aitken, 1.T., and Bro. Baker, Secretary.

Twenty candidates were initiated into the Order, after which the new Lodge was inaugurated by Bro. Smith. After a few short speeches by Bros R. P. Smith, Wesley, Hooker Welham and Sisters Smith and Mitchel of L.O.L. No 2 and 18, the installation ceremony was proceeded with, the following Sisters being installed as officers :

Sisters Wesley, W.M. ; Weir. D.M.; E. Gardner. Secretary ; Dyer, Chaplain ; Brooklebank, Treasurer; Husband, S.D. ; A. Stewart, J.D, ; Ruston (jun.), 1.T,; Eliza Gardner, O.G. ; M. Gardner, F.C.; Bro. Wesley (sen.), of L.0.L., No. 80, Instructor. Many letters and telegrams of congratulations were read from all parts of the N irth Island, after which the Lodge was closed in due form. The sisters and brethren numbering about 60 with a few friends who had been invited, then sat down to a supper, the appointments of which reflect great credit on the ladies, the tables being beautifully decorated, and the supply of eatables being all that could he desired. Several toasts were drunk, and

so ended one of the most pleasant and successful evenings spent by the Loyal Orange Lodge in Huntly.
