OBITUARY

The death has occurred in the Gilbert Islands of Air. AI. A. Levett, who was attached to the headquarters in that area of the London Alissionary Society.

One of Wellington’s best-known business men, Mr Chares E. Richardson, died suddenly in his office on Alonday. He was 71 years old.

LONDON, Sept. 16. Sir Harold Carpenter, distinguished scientist, engineer, and metallurgist is dead. His body was found in a stream near Swansea. Sir Harold Carpenter was 65.

Ho was Professor of Aletallurgy in the Royal School of Alines, Imperial College of Science and Technology, tl nd was formerly a member of the advisory council of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. He was a past president of the Institute of Metals, president of the Iron and Steel Institute, past president of the Institute of Alining and Aletallurgy, and chairman of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.
