WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEKTING AT KOITKRAJCdI. The monthly meeting of the Koitcr■angi Women’s Institute was held in the Public Hall, on Tuesday evening, 10th. September. Mrs A. S. Ravil 1 presided over a. large attendance of members. Three new members were enrolled. The meeting opened with the singing ol the Institute song, ‘'Comrades ann Friends.” The minutes of the.previous meeting were read and confirmed; also the monthly balance sheet. A good deal of correspondence was dealt with and final arrangements were made for the dressmaker tutor classes, which were to start on I.6th. September. ' It was resolved to hold a euchre and dance on Wednesday, 2nd. October. Arrangements made tin' previous month stand. The President, read Miss Kane’s letters from “Home and Country.” Jt was decided to send two parcels to the soldiers, a donation of 10/- being received for same. The members were entertained by a play-reading, “Window Panes, 1 ” which was performed by Mosdamcs A. S. Havill, H. Jones, E. Smith, H. Gimmick. W. Havill, Misses M. GeFilippi. and Joyce Smith. The competitions brought a large number of entries, the results being:— Three daffodils, senior: Airs Gimmick Ist., Mrs GeFilippi 2nd., airs 11. Michel 3rd. Junior: Miss M. GeFilippi Ist., Mrs S. Havill 2nd. Ginger biscuits, senior: Airs Gimmick Ist., Mrs A. S. Havill 2nd., Mrs Cmilson 3rd. Junior: Miss M. GeFilippi Ist., Miss S. Havill 2nd. The Poll Call, “Telegrams from the letters ‘Koiterangi,’ caused some amusement. Supper brought a pleasant evening to a close.
