NEW YORK, July 9
It is reliably stated that the. efforts of the crew of the French' liner,' “Pasteur,” to scuttle the ship, which was anchored at the Bedford Basm, near Halifax, was thwarted by. an armed party of Britishers, who forced their way aboard and closed the sea cocks. There was scuffling, hut no gunfire. The “Pasteur” sailed for New York, on June 17th., carrying munitions, under the -British flag.
An Ottawa message states ite is officially denied that the crew attempted to scuttle the Pasteur.
