The Air Ministry says that storage tanks at Bergen were successfully at- ( tacked during Friday by R.A.F. planes. Blenheim aircraft, while over Bergen engaged and shot down a Messerschnutt 110, which was seen to crash into a mountain side. RELIEF FOR NORWAY. RUGBY, May 17. The Foreign Minister (Lord Halifax) at a meeting at the Mansion House, for the inauguration of King Haakon’s fund for relief in Norway, said that the British Government had assured the Norwegian Government that in “spite of the spread of the war to a new intense and closed battlefield. we shall continue to press forward, with the immediate boject of capturing Narvik, and so establish a. secure base for the Norwegian Government, we shall take council with the Norwegian Government, to see in what way the situation can best bo developed to our mutual advantage.” The Norwegian Minister in London. who was also present, said that Norway would continue to fight on. FIGHTING AT NARVIK. (Received this day at 9.55 a.m) LONDON, May ID. A German attempt to re'icvo Narvik from the sea and Trondheim, was repulsed. Allied warships captured or sank German transports. Norwegians captured an important position near Narvik, closing another retreat against the Germans.
