CLOSING DOWN
LEAGUE OF NATIONS
(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copy right). GENEVA, May 16. The League of Nations began closing down here to-night. Only 69 out of the 329 persons who are employed by the League will go to Vichy, in France, in the event of Switzerland being invaded. The Secretary-General, M. A vend, at a staff meeting, gave 205 of the officials the option of resigning from the staffs, or of agreeing to a suspension of their contracts at the moment when he should declare a .state of emergencv had arisen.
