CHARITABLE BEQUESTS MADE.

AUCKLAND, Sept. 5

Probate has been granted of the will of the late Mrs Emily Porter, of Auckland, whose death occurred on August 15, and the estate has been valued at under £1,000,000. . . , The will contains provision for tnree charitable bequests, each of £2OO, to tbe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; and to St. John Ambulance Society, Auckland, and to the Salvation Army for the purposes oi its Eventide Home at Mount Eden. Mr Porter, who. was in her eightyseventh year, was born in Sussex, and came to New Zealand with her sistei, the late Lady Brett, in ,1864. She married the late Alfred Porter in 1871, and became known for her many private benefactions.
