Hon., P. Fraser, has written a letter to Mrs, Swarbrick of . Te Awamutu, commenting <m the recent women s: meeting there regarding the Social 1 Security Act. 'Mr Fraser unhesitatingly accepts the assurance given that none of the promoters of the meeting had any connection with any political party. The Minister says that.this assurance would be . doubly valuable ? as demonstrating an absence of political bias, if it could <bfe shown from any actimf'Fafty'fneMeTship, affiliation, or assosciatiou, the promoters were not, personally,' political; opponents of the Government, or,,,at least, that some among them wei'4, actual supporters of the Government and of its general policy. Mr. Fraser says: “It must be a source of gratification to the promoters of the meeting, and to all having the interests of mothers at heart to know that 153 out of the 179 private maternity hospitals have agreed to assist in extending the maternity - benefits.
