(Received this day at 10.50 a.m.). , ; CHUNGKING, April 27Chinese are still 30 miles from Nanchang. They captured, after two days fighting, Paishihling Hill, from where the Japanese were preparing a counterattack on Kaoan. Chinese captured three towns to the west of Nanchang. JAPAN’S PLANS IN SHANGHAI. TOKIO, April 26. The “Asahi” says that Mr Arita will shortly request Britain and the United States to co-operate in Japan’s “fair and just” policy regarding the Shanghai International Settlement. Japan is immutably determined *to maintain non-recognition of the existing arrangements between third Powers and Marshal Chiang Kai Shek, regarding the Settlement.
