OBITUARY
A SUDDEN DEATH. (Per Press Association.—Copyright;. ASHBURTON, February 15. Stewart McGlashan Cassidy, an active figure in sports, died suddenly this morning. He was secretary of the Ashburton Umpires’ Association, former secretary of the Cricket Association, and Hockey Association, ' and choirmaster of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Addington, Christchurch, for the last few months. He served in the Great War with the Rifle Brigade j and was wounded at Somme.

The death occurred suddenly on Monday at Westport, at his residence, of Frederick William George, who celebrated his eighty-fifth birthday last week. Born in London, he came to Now Zealand eighty-one years ago and followed goldmining in the Thames district, coming to Westport thirty-seven years ago. He is survived by five sons, Victor (Westport).
