WEST COAST SCHOOLS - ■ - COMMITTEES’ ASSOCIATION. Under the auspices- of the West Coast School Committees’ Association, a meeting was held in the Hokitika Solr.ol; on Tuesday evening, ■to further organise the district in the interests of. the,; Association. Mr E. V. Ellery ' (f!ho *f-m.an of. the Association), was voted to the chair. The following representatives ofSchool Committees were also present: —i • Hokitika:-A, G. Armstrong, H.‘W. R. Swenev, B. King, J. R. Lawrence. , Kapieri: F. Selby, F. J. Jones. Kaihinu: D. Muir, J. Havill and L. Clark .-.-- - . . ■ • West Coast < School Committees’ Association .representatives: Chairman; C. Shapcottj: M. Sheard arid H. Robinson. ■ ' ' Unper Koiterangi ; S. Havill. Harihari: P. S. Hanseto and W. J. Hewer. The Chairman explained that the meeting was called for the purpose ot forming a complete organisation of all the schools in the district into various districts controlled by a sub-committee, whose representatives would form the parent body. At the present time it was very difficult to get a meeting of the Association, owing to the scattered nature of the district, comprising, as it does, about, 300 miles of territory. The idea was that if the district divided up into sub-committees that a more efficient -and more representative Association would be able to function. \\ >' ‘ Mr C. Shapcott (Secretary off the Association)) gave a resume of-the history of the Association and the difficulties that .in the past, had retarded the work of the organisation; He stressed the necessity for a closer cooooration of all the committees iri the district. After a very, full discussion , the meeting resolved to form a sufi*. committee of the following schools:--A wattina, "Kaihinu, Humphreys, Hokitika, Kanieri, Woodstock, Upper and Bower Koiterangi, Ruatapu; Ross arid Kokatahi. '.

Mr B. King and Mr H. W. R. Sweney were appointed chairman and secretary respectively (pro tern) and later to call a meeting of the' schools concerned to appoint their officers and delegates to the Association. It was further resolved to form southern part of the district into another sub-connnittee, comprising the following schools:—Waitafia, Tetaho, Kakapotahi, Evans Creek, Harihari, Wrftviroa, Ok'arito, <Waiho, Weheka, Okuru, Brnce Bay, Jackson Bay and Jacobs River. A meeting is to he called at Harihari for organisation purposes. . •_ A i motion of thank s was passed to the ■ Greymouth representatives . for their attendance and instructive addresses.
