OBITUARY
PETER STEPHENS FEOD. The death of Mr Peter Stephens Feed, which took place at Westland Hospital yesterday morning alter a brie! illness, removes a well known personality of the town. Deceased was a native of Syria and 77 years of age and had resided for years in New Zealand, for most of which period he had lived in Hokitika. He had carried on a drapery business in Revel! Street for many years and later a hairdressing saloon. Uf, late he had been living quietly, his health not being too good. Some years ago he had a strihg of racehorses and hi s colours had a varied success. He leaves a family of eight daughters (Mrs P. Johnston of Grey mouth, Sister Mary Bernadett of Villa Maria, Christchurch, Mrg Musspn of Hokitika, and Misses Phoebe, Monica, Beatrice, Muriel and Anita of Hokitika) and one brother, (Mr H, Stephens of Motueka). To them will be extended the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
BESSIE TOOZE THOMPSON. The death of Mrs Bessie Tooze Thomp* son which took place late last night removes an old and respected resident of Westland. The deceased, who was the first baby to be born in the township of Kanieri, where her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Martin were respected pioneers, was 70 years of age. Her husband the late Mr Frank Thompson, predeceased her 6ome twelve years. Of a kindly, genial nature, deceased had a wide circle of friends who will regret her demise. She leaves a family of one daughter (Mrs J. Gugich of Hokitika) and one son (Mr William Thompson of Hokitika); and; two sisters (Mr s North and Miss P. Martin, both of Hokitika).
