STRIKE RESULTS
THOUSANDS OF DISMISSALS.

PARIS, December 1
The National Defence quarters express the opinion that the dismissals of Government workers will number now eighteen thousand to twenty-one thousand. They admit that there are extensive lock-outs in' private industries.
Dockers at Boulogne- struck when they were told that they had broken their contracts. Shipping-at Boulogne, except the cross channel traffic was held up by the strike.
DIRECTOR LOSES JOB. PARIS, December 2
Following on the Government’s order, it is understood that M. Jouhaux (the Secretary-General of the Confederation of Labour), loses his position as a Director of the Bank of France, also that M. Semard, the Communist Secretary of the Rail way men’s Union, who is a Director of the National Railways, is dismissed from that position. Regarding the dismissal from the Bank of France Directorate of the Confederation of Labour Secretary, Johaux as cabled this afternoon, it was M. Blum (Socialist Party leader) when Prime Minister, who appointed Johaux as director of the Bank of. France. I A POLICE ARREST. (Received this day at 11 a.m.) VALENCENNES, December 2. The police arrested Albert Thomas, a trade union leader, after a chase at Denairi, in which it is alleged Thomas threw paving stones. It was a sequel to a free fight, when 5000 tried to « prevent workers resuming. It is alleged Thomas was responsible for the metal workers’ strike.
