REGENT THEATRE. TU-NIGHT & WEDNESDAY ONLY "ACTION FOR SLANDIR.’’ With a grand cast headed by Clive Brook, Ann Todd and Margarettu Scott, the long awaited London Films' attraction "Action For Slander’’ comes to the Regent Theatre to-night. In an intensely exciting drama, Clive Brook plays the part of a Major George Duviot who is accused of cheating at a game of cauls by a fellow player. Ann Todd is George’s wife who has left him on account of "another woman'’ (Margaretta Scott). However, Ann is persuaded by George’s frit nds to return to him and give encouragement in this most regrettable trouble The matter is thrashed out in a court case that T a fitting climax to such an entertaining film. Complicated sets that required weeks of planning were used for. this court, scene. The extras were given special facilities to watch the exact/ manner in which a genuine law court was conducted, the aim of the director being to maintain the correct atmosphere. Morton Selters fresh from his brilliant characterisation as Burleigh in "lire Over England” has a magnificent role as Judge Trotter. Percy Marmont noted actor of the silent days nlavs the part of Cowhit, a staunch ] fiiend of the Major. Also showing a good supporting programme of shorts.
