(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).
LONDON, Mav 26
A message from the Vienna correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says: “Herr Hitler staggered the population by his replanning of Austria. He is abolishing provincial Governments, and is substituting leaders and organisers. The new Vienna becomes nearly as large as greater London. Another shock was caused by the speeding up of workers. The work in the Government Departments is to begin at 7.30 a.m. from July Ist., while the supervison of the factories engaged on Government contracts will be far stricter than it was in the pre-Nazi days.
AUSTRIAN JEWS
TURNED BACK FROM FRANCE
LONDON, May 2fi
The Paris correspondent of “The Times” says; Nazi Black Guards brought fifty-six Austrian Jews by lorry l to Sterck, on the French frontier, and told them to enter France. The Jews later told French people, that after deprivation of their property, they were forced to sign .papers -renouncing their Germ an nation ulity.
French guards escorted the .Tews back to the German frontier, on the ground that Germany could not be allowed to create a precedent by expelling her own subjects to foreign soil in defiance of international law.
German frontier guards tried to stop the Jews from returning, but finally they escorted them back to barracks.
