U.S.A. DECLINES
USE OF HAWAII FOR AIR LINE BASES. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 1.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, Alarch 10. The Washington representative of the United Press states he has learned that the United States has , rejected the applications by British and Netherlands interests for permission-to establish commercial air bases ,at Hawaii, on the ground that Americans not willing to expose Hawaiian defences to view, for flag air-liners, over which she would have little control. Also, the likelihood fhatUf the application were granted, others, including Japan, would seek the same concession. The British proposed tb use base as a stopping point between Australia and Vancouver.
