DUKE OF WINDSOR

BROTHER NOT TO VISIT HIM. LONDON, September 20. Allegations that the Duke of Kent was advised by Whitehall not to visit his brother, the Duke of Windsor, are made in The Week. The journal states that this advice wuis given because of reports that the Duke of Windsor intended to visit Hitler. The reports, it is stated, were deliberately started by the “old guard” ( of the Palace social circle, w-ho are op- j posed to the suggestion that the Duke of Windsor should return to England. Although promptly denied, the reports perturbed Whitehall, winch advised the Duke of Kent, on his holiday tour, that it would be wiser not to call on his brother. The chances of the Duke of Windsor returning to England are now regarded as remote. It is also stated that the recent newspaper campaign in favour of the Duke’s return, notably by the Daily Express, has had an unfortunate effect. The official attitude is now colder than for months past, and the J)uke appears to be a man without a home, condemned to live his lile in hotels. THE WINDSORS LEAVE AUSTRIA VIENNA, September 20.
