Haslam, who appeared for the accused, consented to a further remand until October 4. Smith, who is a labourer, aged 26 years, of no fixed abode, was charged with obtaining £8 16s 7d in money and goods from Gordon McHordie at Seacliff. bv falsely representing that a cheque drawn on the Bank of New Zealand at Geraldine for that amount was a good and valid order. On this charge, also, Smith was remanded until October 4.
