HUGE FOREST FIRE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). SASKATOON, Sept. 18. Twelve hundred men are fighting a ten-mile forest lire which is threatening ten towns in the northern Saskatchewan. The timber loss is enoimous, ELECTROCUTED. CHICAGO, September 18. Alfred Vivent, aged 34, a mechanic, admitted connecting live wires to the window screens and door-handles of a motor trailer which was parked in his back yard. He was arrested on a charge of manslaughter after the electrocution of a bov, aged five, wmr f was playing near the trailer, \ivent said that the reason for his action was the recent theft ol a wireless set from it.
HISTORIC RING STOLEN. VATICAN CITY, September 17. The historic Fisherman’s Ring, which is placed on the finger of the newly-elected Pope, was among the valuables stolen recently. Presumably it has been melted down. The loss is most inconvenient, as the ring must be used for sealing briefs, so those receiving decorations from the _ Pope will have to wait for its replacement. NEW TRADeTgREKMENT WITH INDIA. LONDON. Sept. 18. • The discussions in London for a new trade agreement with India to replace the Ottawa Pact, have been resumed. Sir ZaiTullah Klian is the leader of the Indian delegation.
