JAPANESE MOVE TO SAVE IMPQRTAT3ONLS. (United Press Association—By -Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day' at 9.15 a.m.) YOKOHAMA, September 19. An important meeting of members of commerce of industry, agriculture, forestry, communications, army, navy, ministry of scientists, members of fisheries institute, and industrialists, decided firstly to vigorously foster a policy to substitute cheaper and as far as possible, domestically produced materials for leading imports, vital staple fibre for wool and cotton, shark, water buffalo, and other aquatic skins for hides, aluminium for copper, reworked rubber for fresh rubber; also in regard to oils and fertilisers; secondly, lighten or exempt from taxation such substitutes; thirdly, intensify rosea re h methods to extend substitution tor which the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will supply funds; and fourthly, when necessary, establish semi-official corporations for the manufacture of substitutes.
