On her last voyage to the Chatham Islands some weeks ago, it was thought that the steamer Tees may have touched some submerged object while steam- ‘ iug near Uitt island m a very heavy sea. Yesterday the vessel was docked for her annual survey, and an exam- | ination‘of the hull disclosed that there j were no marks of any kind to indicate i damage. It is now regarded as certain | that the v'esftel iVas struck by a big cross Sea ■ which was not seen in the darkness.
