Ut tliesb, two hundred and seven houses are to be built in North Island towns, and thirteen in Spreydon district,' at Christchurch. The Under-Secretary in Charge of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee, said to-day the contractors for thes.e houses could commence operations the moment that they had completed the formalities relating to the signing of the contracts. A total of me hundred and twentyseven houses are to be constructed on the Casey Estate in Auckland. Seven separate contracts have been let for those bouses, and the work has been distributed among large and small building firms. Fifteen houses are to be built in Gisb’orne. twenty-four at Hastings, twenty-nine at Napier, and twelve at jj Feilding.
