WHANG AREI, August- 16. Henry James McNaughton,'an Onohati farmer was fined £l2 10s in police court, on a charge that, being in receipt of relief payments, he submitted a false statement of property and earnings, thereby obtaining £lO 14s 7d to which ho was not entitled. v

.Tames Dunsmnir, a seaman, was eh a reed before the Magistrate, Mr Stillwell, with obtaining admission to 'Athletic Park on Saturday without paying 2s 6d admission fee, and obstructing a policeman. The constable saw him rush through the gate and sot about ten yards into the enclosure He asked Dunsmnir for his ticket, knowing he had not one as he had seen him refused admission. Accused made a rush into the crowd, but the constable caught him,'whereupon he started to punch and kick. At the police station he said he had no money, hut wanted to see the game He admitted climbing the fence in the first place; On the first charge bo was fined 15s, hi default three days, and on the second £2, in default seven days.
GAMING HOUSE CHARGE
GREYMOUTH-, August 16
Pleading guilty to being the occupier of premises used as a common gaming house, John William Nownham was fined £4O. Default was not fixed, but the defendant intimated be would “default.” The police considered Nownham was convivally at Nelson and Greyinout.lv in business exclusively, and his doubles were not extensive. It was alleged he was agent for a Dunedin bookmaker, but this the defendant denied. ' •
