Mr MacDonald, replying to questions concerning General Hertzog’s statement said there was no agreement to transfer the territories within a specific time. 1 explained to Geneivl Hert--7.0g on my recent visit, that the situation had not altered and that the Government had adycrcd to the 1935 agreement not to transfer the territories till the populations were consulted. 1 hope >tho matter can be solved by friendly ! co-operation between England and ! South Africa.
