A LOST GUARD
FALL FROM TRAIN. TAIHAPE, June 10. Anxiety was caused at the Taihape railway station in the early hour.s ol this morning by the arrival of a train from the north without the guard, Mr M. Siddje- An urgent inquiry from the statioiimaster at Mat area, six miles north of Taihape, elicited the information that Mr Sidd'e was aboard the train when it left Mata ton. Grave fears were entertained for Mr Siddle’s safety, but anxiety was allayed when he put in an ..ppearance about, half an hour after the arrival of the train. Mr Siddle had .slipped on the frosted surface of acarriage platform and fallen on to the ballast at the side >f the track about a mile north of Taihape stotion. He was in the act of extinguishing the carriage lights when me accident occurred. Mr Siddle fractured two ribs as a resell of his fall and had to receive medical attention.
