■ SEVEN DAYS FOR ASSAULT, WELLINGTON, June 10. An allegation that he had been attacked ancl got down on his buck by five of Lee’s daughters, was made by John Kennedy, a waterside worker who pleaded Uod guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to a charge of assaulting Henry Lee. Constable Hughes read a statement Oy the accused saying the complaintant’s family were his tenants. Yesterday, he aiitged, that the five daughters attacked him, and got him down on his back. Mrs Annie 'Jane Lee said that yesterday morning, about eleven Kennedy asked to speak to one of her ctaughteis, who was in bed. telle pushed him out of the room, and he caught her by the throat. He was screeching and looking dangerous. She screamed, and her daughters and her husband joined her. She had a terrific fight. William Henry Lee, pensioner, said he heard his lvife screaming. Hg went to her assistance, but he was knocked down. “He tried to choke me,” said witness. “If it had not been for my daughters I would not be here now.’ they liberated me, and ran to the police station.” Witness ilsa showed several scars on his face. Billy Lee, a daughter of the complainant, said that she was in bed when the accused tried to push his way into h« room. He would have killed her father had the daughters not taken a hand. The accused had been practising wrestling holds in the 'Porirua Hospital. The accused, in evidence, said ho did not believe in people lying in bed in the mornings. Mr s Lee pushed him backwards. He pushed her and her husband hit him with a broom. Mr Mosley, S.M., imposed a sentence of seven days’ hard labour.
