ADDINCTON STOCK SALES. {let Press Association Copyright). CHRISTCHURCH, June 8. At Addington market to-day, the store sheep entry was smail. 'lhero was an improved tone, and an excellent sale throughout, with 2s per head of an appreciation on late values. There was a small offering of mutton, including some sheep of very poorquality. Pr.me quality sold at u premium from the*‘outset, wethers being 2s stronger and ewes Is better. The fat lambs comprised 860 head. The quality was poor. The best grades sold firmly, with some excellent sales being recorded. The inferior grades sold at late rates. There was the smajlest yarding of beef for some months, 330 head. The quality was moderate, aged cows and light steers predominating, with very few animals of outstanding quality. There was an erratic sale, with instances of values 20s per head cheaper than a week ago. Considering the smaller offering, the drop in value? was surprising. There were only a> few instances of last week’s rates being maintained. “sticky.” Extra hepv prime, bullocks, sold to £ls 7s Pul/ prime heavy '£l# 10s to £l2 15s. prime medium £9 10? to £lO ss, ordinary £8 5s to £9 ss; best heavy heifers to £lO 7s fid, prime £(> to £7 10s, ordinary £4 10s to £5 15s, light heifers from £4 ss; extra heavy cows to £9 2s fid, prime cows £4 15s to £6 10s, medium and light to £4 10s.
There was a medium yarding of porkers of indifferent quality. Best grades were firmer by 2s to 3s per head. Others showed little change. There was a small offering of baconers. Nevertheless, there was littlo change in values, excepting for heavy weights being to 3s per head firmer.
