FLOOD DAMAGE

IN COUNTY AREA The heavy rain and flooding last night has resulted in considerable flood damage being done throughout the County. , Among the damage reported is the following:— Serious scouring of the Old Christchurch road near Tariwhatc sawmill, interrupting traffic. Culvert washed out on Bladier’s road, Kokatahi. Doughboy creek bridge partly demolished on Municipal road, Koiteraugi. Pier washed out of Kakapotahi bridge, Little Waitaha, necessitating piling and further protection. Protection work was in hand at this danger point, but was not completed. Lower Wataroa road washed out at culvert crossing, and traffic interupted. A rah ura river was in high flood and dislocated the dragline plant opening a new channel for flood waters. This work, also in hand "as interrupted before the work was brought to a useful stage.
