The Federation Aeronautiquc Internationale, in a bulletin discloses that the height record, of Squadron Leader F. R. D. Swain does not rank as a world’s record.

The federation recognises only four world’s records—for 'distance in a straight line, for distance in a dosed circuit, for height, and for specif. The height record is still credited to thb Americans, Anderson and Stevens, who, in 1935, ascended 72,394 feet in a balloon.

[Squadron Leader Swain, .flying a special Bristol aeroplane, reached a height of 49,967 feet on September 29.)
