Shareholders were critical at the annual jmeeting of Gaumont-British Films, presided over by Mr Mark Ostrer, who recommended that no dividend’ on ordinary shares, although the net profit was £715,514. * ' He explained that they were building up substantial reserves in subsidiary companies, including Baird Television, from which great benefits were expected. After Mr Ostrer’s excitation, of recent negotiations with I - ox, MetroGoldwn Mayer, and Associated British . Pictures, {several shareholders complained that.. y affairs t*a company' had ndtf'Jbeen made, clear; instead they had been dealt v ith “as it it had beep a Yankee concern.” . Control of the company, they said was bandied about- without consulting tile shareholders.
A resolution was agreed to adjourning the meeting until the directors were able to present a complete bal-ance-sheet of ‘ the company and its subsidiaries.
