The hush fires on the Blue Mountains are practically subdued, leaving a trail of destruction for miles. Many people have )ost #ll their belongings. Late on Friday night considerable progress in stemming the advance - of the fires had been made in the vital centres, and Springwood, Blaxland, Grenbrook and Faulconbridge were not of immediate danger. A change in the wind had driven- the flames back .in many places. , , . S-oros of people have been left homeless, and property worth many thousands of pounds lias been destroyed.
