This man’s downfall can ho attributed to two things: Firstly, ho was getting too fond of liquor, and secondly, he was more keenly interested in racing than was good -foi him. Chief Detective Dunlop made this statement in the Magistrate’s Court this morning when Terciva! Leslie Williams, aged 42, formerly a postal employee, was charged with the theft ot four postal packets. Williams was ordered by Mr C. E. Levvey, S.M., to come up for sentence within three years if called on, and to pay costs. Chief Detective Dunlop (said accused admitted having taken a letter, which was found in his pocket. Williams was evidently a keen stamp collector as many classes of stamps were found in his room.
