BRITISH GOVERNMENT 1 , CONCERN i (British Official Wireless.) {?■ In a long answer in the House of Commons, on Iraq, the Foreign Secretary (Mr IL. A. Eden) said: “The resignation of the constitutionally appointed Government of Iraq because of violent action by the army leaders is a development which naturally causes his < Majesty’s Government concern. It is difficult to forecast future political develop-, meiits, but the British Ambassador to Bagdad has received from the new Prime Minister assurances of has belief in the necessity for Iraq maintaining close and friendly relations with his Majesty’s Government and of his intention to gbvem in conformity with the constitution.”
The British Ambassador ,nad warned trio new Government that one of the principal criteria by which the new Government would be judged outside Iraq would be the humanity of its treatment, of minorities.
