DUBLIN, November 3
f ‘Before the section of the Dail ends we are bringing in a Constitution which is of tbe type the Irish would choose if Britain were a million, miles away,’ said Mr d© Valera, in addressing a conference of the Fianna Fail.
“Our relations with Britain will be a subsequent question. 1 regret that our. relations with Britain are not better. Efforts to break our people by penal tariffs began during the worst of the slump, but the Irish are nqt going to surrender. “We want to be'on good terms with the British. We d.o not wish to hurt them; but we want .to be allowed to live our own lives. There will never be lasting peace between these two countries so long as any part of . the national territory of Ireland is withheld from the control of the majority of our nation.” Mr de valera added that as for the 'League of Nations, he intended to wait and see what the future was to be. “If we do not like it, we will not belong to it,” he said.
