KEEN MARKET
NEW ZEALAND DEERSKINS. WELLINGTON, July 20. The- market for deerskins has become so keen that at present New Zealand supplies cannot cope witn the demand from overseas. This was indicated by the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry), whose department Is in charge of State deer culling operations in several parts of the Dominion. “There is a keen demand for New Zealand deerskins and large quantities have been sent to overseas markets during the last few years,’.’ said the Minister, -in an interview to-day. “The firm s handling the exports have, written to' -me ; reining to the very fine quality and/gpherally Jjigh standard of the skins. ' ' ' “In these days, of the heavy slaughter of deer, particularly in parts of the South Island, and the salvaging of the skins, the - reports of the. excellent market for them are good news to all who are-Mealing with the commodity. Anjp'person shooting deer rendering a national service in assisting to deal with a menace, but there is no reason why that, person should not also obtain financial return from the skins which can be saved. The department has a very complete circular indicating the manner in which skins should be treated, and will send .copies to anypne interested.”
