CONCILIATION

AN INDUSTRIAL DISPUTE (Per Press Association, Copyright) WELLINGTON, July 21. Requests made by the Employers’ Association for postponements of conciliation fixtures seemed to indicate that they were deliberately marking time, said Mr Readon, Conciliation Commisioner to-day, when applications were made to him for the postponement of the hearing of the dispute between Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, and the Joiners’ Machinists’ Association of Workers and New Zealend Federated Builders and Contractors Association of Employers. Mr Mountjoy, secretary of the latter Association, Air W. Nill (its president) and Air A. Fletcher, all denied that the employers were deliberately obstructing Conciliation Councils, and Air Alountjoy explained that the delays were caused by the unprecedented pressure of work caused by the recent industrial legislation.
