At Caulfield races yesterday the well-known hurdler, Sixteen Annas, was killed in the Leamington Hurdles failing at the second last jump, breaking Ins neck. The rider, Maher, escaped with a shaking. The Grand National Steeples winner, Santa Casa, won the Godfrey Watson Steeplechase by only threequarters of a length, coming from almost a hopeless position, a long way back The chief results were: — Murrumbeena Handicap—Gay Friar 1.
