PUBLIC MEETING
AQUATIC CLUB FORMED
A public meeting w as held in McIntosh’s Club rooms last evening thfc're being a good attendance Mr R. Lynn wa.s voted to the chair, and explained the purpose of the gathering which was to advance the general interests of all sports in the town. Air J. ; N. Robertson said it was hoped to extend the activities of the Lake Kanieri Boating Club, and if possible to include sailing, rowing and canoeing in their activities. Support was given by Messrs J. J. Mclntosh, J. Stafford, E. W. Heenan, D. Dowell, J. Taylor, F. McGregor and C. Hart. Mr Mclntosh then moved that the Hokitika Aquatic Club be formed for the purpose of furthering aquatic sports in the Hokitika district. This was seconded by Mr Heenan and carried. The following officers were appointed: —President —Mr R. Lynn ; secretary— Mr P. Phipps; treasurer, Mr F. McCabe ; patron— Mr J. J. Mclntosh, vice presidents—Dr 15. Teiehelmann, Messrs J. N. Robertson, W. J. Radford, J. Michel. Committee—Messrs E. W. Heenan T. Cagney, F. McCarthv, 0. Hart, J. Stuart, C. Collyer and Milson. The membership fee was fixed at 5s per annum ; junior members (17 years and 2s 6d. Following a discussion, the committee were requested to arrange, if possible, for a programme to be carried out durthe Christmas festival.
