THEFT CHARGE
TWO ACCUSED REMANDED (Per Press Association, Copyright). NEW PLYMOUTH, June 26. The capture of two suspects of Waitotar.a '..burglary, a few .hours after their arrival at New Plymouth, and the recovery of the converted ear in which they allegedly journeyed here, was made by the police yesterday, following a search. Mailman, a labourer of Auckland, aged 21, and Carl Dodds, alias Carl Frederick Edward O’Neill, labourer of Palmerston North, aged 19, were charged with converting a car on Tuesday, valued at £225, belonging to Mrs H. K. Handley of Waitotara, and breaking and entering A. 11. Parkinson’s store at Waitotara yesterday and stealing goods and money of a value of £25.
On the application of the poliee, the pair were remanded to Wanganui till July 3. The ear was found abandoned a.fter crashing into a lamp post, and the police traced the owner at Waitotara.
