TE AWAMUTU, June 20 The Lender of. the Opposition (Mr Savage), addressed a large meeting last night. ; ; In the course of his speech, he warned electors against the Government’s auxiliary forces, which were sure to make another attempt to divide the people at the polls. Mr Savage stated that the official Labour Party was the only possible altermuive to a Coalition Government, and he appealed to the people to make up their minds either for or against -abour. Wherever Labour candidates were nominated the issue should bo clear. With twenty-four members in the House, the Labour Party had a glorious chance of being the next Government, and if given a working majority, he had no fear of the consequences. No doubt a. lot of money wou.d he spent in attempts to stampede the electors and to provide -an alleged alternative, but experience of the past had. been that all those alternatives had found it possible to combine a.gainst Labour on vital issues A vote of thanks was carried.
